The French Revolution D.18.07.01

30 Jun

During the French Revolution an angry mob attacked the many churches. This was something that happened all over France at the time of the revolution in the late 18th century.
There was a lot of hostility by common people towards the Church because people felt that it had been acting in an oppressive way, and this anger was often taken out by destroying the buildings.
In some cases, people started taking hammers to statues and during one the few times during the French Revolution, the townspeople actually stopped the rioters from doing this.
